went out with Van (Fishers of Men) this morning. - he took us to the same spot where his team took 6th place the day before - it was great action with rods banging off everywhere - took 3 man limit in 2 hrs 20min - used 30 jets off the big boards - ole petes bad boys money spoon was non-stop action, we were running three (need to get more) -once again another great day on erie with friends - thanks Van
Sun Jun-24-07 walleyes and bullets First rod in the water at 7am, fished with my partner howard and good friend Van (Fishers of Men) - 55 fow 3/4 mile north of crib - ran 6 big dipsies 1-1/2,2-1/4 and 3-1/2 settings 75-90, 90-120,and 120-150 back - anything orange was hot - orange crush, tangerine, chicken wing, and also copper watermelon - all were copper backs. had our limit by 11:00- decided to go after bullets, ran about another 8 miles north to 70 fow - hooked up after 10 minutes, then nothing - trolled south and started picking them up in 67 fow, stayed on that depth with an east troll and kept busy! same program except we put out all shiny silver backed spoons with oranges, blues, greens - silver watermelon and some spoon Howard bought on a clearance shelf for 98 cents, it was all chrome and we could not keep it in the water it caught 3 bullets and many, many walleye. we played c&r with at least 20 more walleye - ended up 6 for ten on the bullets with some very good performances with there acrobatics. quit at 5pm - tired of letting all them walleye go and the belly was screaming for food. Also 6 white bass and 2 farm animals. ran all large spoons - mostly ole petes. Rippin Lip (Bob dale)
Two man ticket punched, the only problem there was 4 eligible! Van worked real hard to find us some fish. We finally hit upon a small school off of Beaver in 42-45 foot. Worked that area and picked up 12, but it took a while. All fish came in quick bunches. At one time we had 3 going at once. As quick as they came, they left again. The last hour we went without a hit. Regardless, it was great day to be on the water and to get Van's tutorial on big board fishing. I'll post some pictures later after I re-size them. Thanks for a great day Van! KaKee (Keith)
Nice post and good fishing guys - finding them fish can be frustrating at times - I know Van will work hard to find them - great Captain!
We went with Fishers of Men and usually he does not have to retrieve clips in a day and we pulled the boards twice to get releases back to use again!!! http://ohfishing.com/stl-web/bulletin/phpBB1/viewtopic.php?t=7844 Craig Bentz
Took Van (Fishers of Men) and his friend John (now my friend- good people) out today- launched out of edgewater was setting rods at 7am in 59 fow and was done by 10am - ran 4 dipsies and 2 inline planers - ole petes bad boys money and bad boys credit were hot early as well as bubble gum reef runner 120 back with a 2oz snap weight - finshed last ticket and 1/2 with monkey puke big stingers and copper melon harness with a gulp crawler (caught 7 on same worm) - John kept saying I gotta get some power bait. I would have saved it for another day but I left it out too long and it turned into jerky (did not taste good though). We then decided to go after chromes, stopped and set up in 4 different depths and marked unbelievable fish everywhere we set up - continued catching and releasing nice walleye - released some big fish in 70 fow - ended up with one steelie in 72.5 fow on monkey puke, silver backed. just an absolutely beautiful day on the lake!!!! only seen 1 boat while fishing and it was a net boat that I thought was going to drive right into my stern but he turned away and kept motoring. http://www.ohiogamefishing.com/community/showthread.php?t=73813 Rippin Lip (Bob dale)

Scoot and I went out with Fishers of Men Monday afternoon/evening about 6-7 miles west of the river. Ran a spread of Ole Petes/Silver Leaf spoons 45, 55, 65 back behind 20/30 jets, 3 rigs off of each side via boards.
Caught a 3 man ticket from around 2- 3 lb's up to around 9-10, most in the 4-6 lb range. The fish were a bit scattered but very findable. Spent most of the time around 40 fow. We used a variety of colors, it did'nt seem to much matter insofar as catching fish which color we used. They all drew strikes.
Good day, good fishin', good company...

Yes....many thanks go out to Van for being such a great guide and getting us on some fish!! We started out trying to pull a few eyes while drifting, but nothing doing until the Old Petes spoons got in the water, then it was off to the races. Like Syzy said, all the colors that we tried were catching fish and we didn't lose hardly any at all.

Thanks also to Craig and Drift Bag for "seasoning" some gear for us prior to our trip. It was your post that got us to make the trek, and I'm glad that you two had success as well.

If anyone wants to get on the walleye, give Van a ring and you won't be disappointed. The guy just knows his fish and we had a great time with him.

Thanks, Van....nice to meet you, and we'll do it again sometime.
